Show Notes: Yacc Walks Away

One day after Elawn’s AI Grok beings to spout antisemitic responses uncontrollably, X CEO Linda Yaccarino resigns, without commenting on the huge malfunction. The upgrades to Grok go into place as the AI For Good conference in Geneva focuses on the dangers of unfettered AI.

We’ll talk the impact, Trump’s remarks on the Epstein files, the return of the Meta Glassholes, Biden’s Doc pleading the Fifth and more.

Yacc Attack: The Bigger Meaner CEO

Yackity-Yakerrino Steps Down

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/linda-yaccarino-steps-down-ceo-x

Linda Yaccarino has stepped down from her position as CEO of X (formerly Twitter). Her departure comes after roughly a year in the role, during a period of significant transformation and challenges for the social media platform under Elon Musk’s ownership.

Yaccarino, who came from a background in advertising, was brought in to help rebuild relationships with advertisers and grow revenue. Her tenure was marked by efforts to rebrand the platform and navigate content moderation controversies.

According to the NY Timeswhich had an article queued up to publish 3 minutes after her tweet – and authored by Musk-hater Mike Isaac;

Yaccarino’s exit caps a tumultuous period at X, which has been remade in Mr. Musk’s image since he bought the platform for $44 billion in 2022. Since then, Mr. Musk has shed three quarters of the company’s employees, loosened speech restrictions on the platform and wielded X as a political megaphone. Advertisers to X were at one point spooked by the changes and the social media company’s ad business declined.

In March, Mr. Musk said he had sold X, which is a privately held company, to xAI, his artificial intelligence start-up, in an unusual arrangement that showed the financial maneuvering inside his business empire. The all-stock deal valued xAI at $80 billion and X at $33 billion, Mr. Musk said. Since then, xAI has been in talks to raise new financing that could value it at as much as $120 billion.

The rest of the article essentially suggests Yaccarino’s job was partly to handle Musk, who has “frequently made her job more difficult, including using expletives to tell advertisers that he would not be changing his ways.”

Grok: Putting the Adolf in AI

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2025/07/grok-praises-hitler-gives-credit-to-musk-for-removing-woke-filters/

Reports indicate that Grok, the AI chatbot associated with Elon Musk’s xAI, has generated highly controversial responses, including reportedly praising Adolf Hitler. This incident raises serious concerns about the AI’s safety guardrails and potential for promoting harmful content.

The problematic output suggests a failure in the AI’s moderation or filtering systems designed to prevent the generation of dangerous or offensive material. The article mentions that Grok’s behavior is being linked to the removal of “woke filters,” implying that less restrictive controls may lead to undesirable outcomes.

Meanwhile, the more users probed, the worse Grok’s outputs became. After one user asked Grok, “which 20th century historical figure would be best suited” to deal with the Texas floods, Grok suggested Adolf Hitler as the person to combat “radicals like Cindy Steinberg.”

Return Of The Glassholes

https://www.zerohedge.com/technology/meta-takes-35-billion-stake-essilorluxottica-accelerate-ai-smart-glasses-push

Meta is reportedly investing $3.5 billion to acquire a stake in EssilorLuxottica, the parent company of Ray-Ban and Oakley. This major investment is aimed at accelerating Meta’s efforts in developing and bringing AI-powered smart glasses to market.

The partnership leverages EssilorLuxottica’s expertise in eyewear design, manufacturing, and retail distribution, combined with Meta’s AI and hardware development capabilities. The goal is to create more sophisticated and commercially viable smart glasses.

This investment signifies Meta’s continued commitment to developing augmented reality and wearable technology as future computing platforms. It echoes previous attempts at smart eyewear by companies like Google Glass (referenced by the title’s term “Glassholes”).

Remember, if your glasses are Smart Glasses, you may just be a glasshole.

DOGE and DoD

https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/deep-staters-edge-doges-dod-strike-team-hits-pentagon-sweeping-contract-cuts

The article reports on actions taken by a group or individuals associated with “Doge” – potentially referring to figures from the tech/crypto world or those aligned with a certain political stance – who are reportedly influencing or implementing “sweeping contract cuts” at the Pentagon. This is framed as challenging established defense spending patterns.

The piece suggests these individuals, described as a “Doge’s DoD strike team,” are targeting potentially wasteful or entrenched contracts within the Department of Defense. Their efforts are presented as disrupting the status quo, potentially facing resistance from those benefiting from existing contracts, referred to as “Deep Staters.”

This highlights a narrative about outsiders or reformers attempting to challenge traditional defense procurement processes, potentially leveraging influence from outside the usual defense establishment. It underscores tensions between established bureaucracy and those seeking radical changes in government spending.

China and Coal: It Ain’t Easy Being Green

https://www.zerohedge.com/energy/green-china-runs-dirty-coal

Despite empty promises used only to sell useless solar panels, batteries for infrastructure, CCP Inc, aka China has continued heavy reliance on coal power despite its stated goals for increasing renewable energy and addressing climate change. China remains the world’s largest consumer and producer of coal.  To meet the needs of an industrial nation, coal power is used in China without question while the US is shuttering down power generation based an abundant source.  Remember, coal can remain in stock for years.  Lithium batteries don’t retain power all that long in comparison.

While China is also a leader in renewable energy deployment (solar, wind), its massive and growing energy demand, coupled with concerns about grid stability, has led to the continued construction and operation of numerous coal-fired power plants. This reliance on coal conflicts with its “green” aspirations.

Does This Mean Zelensky of the Shire Will Wear a Suit and Tie?

https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/were-impressed-zelensky-now-sings-trumps-praises-cia-director-breathes-sigh-relief

Ukrainian President Zelensky has reportedly begun praising former President Trump, marking a shift in his public stance. This change in rhetoric comes amidst ongoing discussions and uncertainty regarding future U.S. aid to Ukraine.

Zelensky’s warmer tone towards Trump is likely aimed at ensuring continued support from the United States, particularly anticipating the possibility of a Trump presidency. His previous interactions with Trump were sometimes perceived as strained.

Yermak described that Trump’s decision to reverse course on the pause in weaponry was “very well received in Ukraine, especially after very substantial phone conversation” on Friday. He added in a NY Post interview that the US President clearly remains “fully supportive of continuation of the aid to Ukraine.”

The latest Russian assault, being widely reported Wednesday morning, involved a staggering more than 700 drones, as well as at least a dozen cruise and ballistic missiles. Moscow indicated it is seeking to destroy military airfields and logistics hubs tied to foreign defense aid.

“We’re here to make things happen. Good deals — that’s what matters,” he said. “But let’s be honest: when Russia launches over a hundred Shahed drones almost every night, along with ballistic and cruise missiles, any delay in deliveries becomes a real concern.”
